Instructions

  1. Mix semolina, butter, oil, and salt in a large bowl
  2. Rub semolina grains between your fingers
  3. Use a kitchen towel to cover it and set aside
  4. Combine orange blossom water and warm water to make the Makroudh
  5. Gently add the mixture to the semolina with flour and vanilla sugar
  6. Snead ingredients to make a soft dough
  7. Add liquid for the softer and smoother dough
  8. Now, combine ground almonds, vanilla sugar, cinnamon, and almond extract in a bowl
  9. The purpose is to make the filling
  10. Roll the mixture into two long logs
  11. Set aside these logs
  12. Divide semolina dough into two balls
  13. Flatten the dough to make a rectangular shape
  14. Press down in the rectangle’s center with your finger
  15. The purpose is to make an indentation
  16. Add filling logs and seal the rectangle
  17. Now cut each log into diagonal parts or pieces
  18. Reshape the cuts to achieve a uniform shape
  19. Heat olive oil in a saucepan
  20. Combine orange flower water and honey in the saucepan to make the syrup
  21. Heat over medium-low heat and keep warm
  22. Deep fry Makroudh in small batches for five minutes
  23. Dip friend Makroudh into the honey syrup for one minute
  24. Remove the Makroudh and drain on wire racks
  25. Repeat the process until you are done
