Feteer Meshaltet is delicious Egyptian food characterized by multiple layers of dough with loads of butter and ghee sandwiched between the dough. Ingredients
- Four cups of all-purpose flour
- One or two cups of tap water
- ¼ teaspoon of salt
- One cup of unsalted butter
- ¼ cup of ghee or oil
Instructions
- Combine the flour and salt
- Add one cup of water and knead the flour
- Set aside the dough for ten minutes
- Make six to eight balls
- Heat ghee or butter and pout it into a bowl
- Apply the warm butter to the dough balls
- Set aside for 15 to 20 minutes
- Preheat your oven to 550 degrees Fahrenheit
- Fold the dough and add the butter mixture in between it
- Set aside the ball and make the next one
- Place the ball on a 10-inch pie or baking dish
- Make sure it is side down
- Use butter to top the balls
- Place the balls in the oven for 10-15 minutes
- Once the Feteer starts to puff, turn it upside down
- Add a small amount of butter on top and cover for a few minutes
- The purpose is to avoid it from getting dry
